The Opel Grandland is a compact crossover SUV which was officially unveiled jointly by the German manufacturer Opel and its British twin sister brand Vauxhall in the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017, and went on sale for the model year of 2018.[1] Opel started taking orders for the Grandland X in June 2017, and more than 100,000 orders were made for the Grandland X by September 2018.[2][3]
Plans for the Grandland X were known as early as May 2012, when it was initially rumoured before PSA Peugeot Citroën officially indicated in December 2012 that it would build the eventual replacement for the Zafira.[4][5]
It is based on the PSA EMP2 Platform, and is thus closely related to the second generation Peugeot 3008.[6] In the United Kingdom, it is rebadged and sold under the nameplate Vauxhall Grandland and was known as the Opel and Vauxhall Grandland X from September 2017 to March 2021.[7] It replaces the Opel Antara and since August 2019, it also replaces the Opel Zafira as well and is currently sold in Europe and South Africa.[8][9]
