The Citroën C5 is a large family car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën from March 2001 until February 2017, in two generations. It replaced the Citroën Xantia, in the large family car class, and is the first modern Citroën with “Cx” naming nomenclature, previously used by its ancestors, the C4 and C6 from 1930. The third generation is expected to be released in 2021.[1]

After four years out of production in Europe, the C5 name was revived for a third generation.

Its design will be inspired by the third generation of C4, no longer having a three-box design, but a liftback with nods to crossovers.

It was revealed on April 12, 2021. At the presentation of the new model it has changed to the C5X, which emphasizes the increased ground clearance and crossover style. It has been announced that it will be available as a plug-in hybrid with the same technology from the Peugeot 508.[9]
